How are venules formed
WebThe capillaries connect the smallest branches of the arteries (arterioles) and the smallest branches of veins (venules). WebTerminations of the vasa recta form the straight venules, branches from the plexuses at the apices of the medullary pyramids. They run outward in a straight course between the tubes of the medullary substance and join the interlobular veins to form venous arcades. These in turn unite and form veins which pass along the sides of the renal pyramids.

WebEventually, the smallest arteries, vessels called arterioles, further branch into tiny capillaries, where nutrients and wastes are exchanged, and then combine with other vessels that exit capillaries to form venules, small blood vessels that carry blood to a vein, a larger blood vessel that returns blood to the heart. WebBecause it is derived from interstitial fluid, with which blood and surrounding cells continually exchange substances, lymph undergoes continual change in composition. It is generally similar to blood plasma, which is the fluid component of blood. Lymph returns proteins and excess interstitial fluid to the bloodstream.
WebS.S. Hayreh, in Encyclopedia of the Eye, 2010 Retinal Venous Drainage. The postcapillary venules drain the blood from the capillaries but, occasionally, capillaries may join a major vein directly.
